Ballet 101 Description
Class description-Michael Cornell’s Ballet 101 is ballet basic training from ground zero. This course is a great way to begin ballet and develop a basic proficiency with the balletic art form. This progressive 6 week course introduces total adult beginners to the art of classical ballet technique. We assume you have never practiced a ”plie” or “tendu”, however you will begin dancing the very first day. All major elements such as movement vocabulary, posture, feet positions, alignment, and musicality will be explained in detail. At the completion of this course, students will understand all major movements of a basic ballet barre, and begin some basic work in center floor. In this class you will get a “workout”, but our Ballet 101 is not a fusion exercise class. This is a TRUE ballet as it is taught in the legendary opera houses of the world made approachable, clear, and simple. We use many of the traditional instructional methods, but our progressive approach also incorporates concepts from modern sports science and utilizes healthy organic body alignment. All students start class on the same entry date, and progress as a group at the same level. The goal is to give dancers a solid foundation so they may move from our first course to our more advanced classes, or supplementally improve any style of dance they are currently studying, while benefiting from a sense of cumulative group dynamic and community. From the moment you start, Private Ballet Los Angeles has 6 months worth of systematic training to build motivated dancers into proficient intermediate ballet students. While we do encourage everyone to take progressive training at at their own pace and to stay inside their comfort zone, we are confident in our ability to move dancers into our fun and challenging ongoing classes within a few months. As a PBLA policy, we believe in focusing on positive encouragement as a form of motivation for both our adult and teen students. We want you to have a great experience in our class and feel good about yourself as you learn.Private Ballet Los Angeles is continually evolving a revolutionary approach for teaching ballet to adults.Michael Cornell has chosen teachers he trusts for their outstanding knowledge of ballet technique and for their ability to communicate this information in a positive encouraging atmosphere. Each instructor works with Michael to understand and follow his unique method of training which simplifies ballet technique for beginners. Michael frequently visits these classes to assess the progress and provide feedback. There is weekly communication between Michael and his instructors on the development of each class. Everyone at P.B.L.A. is dedicated to providing you with a great experience.
